Detail Pics

I got a SonyP10 (5megapixel) digicam a few weeks back, and im starting to take before/after pics of my client cars and the work i do on them.

Unfortunately i didnt snap before pics (although i will be detailing his CL500 again in a few weeks and ill do so once i see him again), but i did take 2 after shots.

I had it on 5 megapixel mode, and the files came out pretty large, at 1.5-2.5 mb accordingly.

I performed my 'Wash & Wax' package on this CL, its pretty basic, but i aim for outstanding results within ANY service that i perform.

Tell me what you guys think. Maybe some of you can help me re-size the pics so they wont be so large in the future?

Enjoy,:) :jump

Is there a limit on how big files should be when uploading them?

My file is like 2mb, b/c its a 5 Mega pixel pic.

:(

Do you have any image editing software? If so there should be a resize function. then just save it as a new filename.

Eric

I resized it, and reduced the image quality to 3 Megapixels, maybe this will work.

Bah. ill try to upload the 5megapixel ones...you can really appreciate the quality of the work when the pic quality is at its best.

Oh well, it'l do for now:)

FYI: if only you guys could have seent he condition of his paint BEFORE i worked on it.

He keeps it outside, and it rained several time recently, so there were alot of caked on water spots and imperfections. Not to mention the sorrounding tree's deposit alot of pollen and other minor environmental substances that also baked into the paint from trh florida heat.

:D

Try to keep the pictures scaled down so it doesn't cripple the poor dialup people. If you post wallpaper sized photographs that are staggering resolution then its not going to make very many people happy. Try uploading it to your DC album and see how that works for you. Or just size them so you can attach them to the post.

If you are using Windows XP, you can resize them to 640 x 480 using the Microsoft resizing software provided.

You asked

For that vehicle it has that new clear coat [PPG CeramiClear coat] From what I see you need more tire conditioner on the tires dry on the edges

I would have done more that just a wax from the front finder[shown] there are holograms showing and cob webs as you said your going to do the vehicle again thats when it should be maintained [WASH AND WAX] for the INITIAL SERVICE I would have:

100% handwash
clay the vehicle then rinse again and dry
Swirl free polish / SSR-1 / PB Pro -Polish [Machine]
Sealant X2 The 2nd coat is insurance for complete coverage

Then you maintain the vehicle with a wax [s100]

This should have been ADVISED to the customer FIRST

New again: I take advice/criticism well...so let me say that i appreciate all types of feedback, so thank you.

As you inferred, i did actaully spend a good 10 minutes discussing and explaining the work that i thought *needed* to be done based on the problem area's that i saw.

As for the tires, the excitement of my new P10 digicam took over and i wanted to begin snapping away...lol...needless to say i wasnt completely finished with the final walk aorund to chk for missed spots.

Good eye though, and ill keep your suggestions in mind the next time i meet with this client.

Did you remember to dress the wheel wells after you did a "walkaround"?

No, i did not dress the wheel wells, its pretty difficult to even see inside them to be honest.

I do wash/scrub and clean the wheel wells, if thats what you mean though.

The CL 500 has 18" low profile tires, and minimal spacing between the tire and the wheel well, dressing it wouldnt even be noticable in my opinion.

On trucks/SUV (where the wheel wells are easily visible) i can apply the tire dressing/protectant.

Hey Mike,

You could set the camera to a lower resolution. That will drastically reduce file size and still give some good shots. It won't give the shots full res will of course, but it will be quite acceptable I think. My 2.1 on full res creates .5 to 1.2 MB. I dropped it to the lowest res and now they're at about 60 to 80 KB at most.

But I'll bet you're having some serious fun with that new toy!! :) Enjoy. And the car looks really good too! Nice job.

Keeotee: Thx for the kind words bud. I found out a way (its a little time consuming) in which i can take pics in 5 megapixel format, and then re-size them in Photoshop to allow me to share them through these forums. :)

Im still learning all its funstions and features, so im sure ill stumble across a more efficeint method of taking digital pics with it, hehe.

The sone P10 is a blast, im loving it. I found it that it can record movie clips too ( i think i need a bigger memory stick though), but thats awesome!

Just turn down the resolution on your camera. Almost all digital cameras have selectable resolution modes that allow you to step down to lower resolutions for particular needs.

The resolution of a 5 megapixel camera is 2048 x 1756 or thereabouts. This is much too large for most web-based applications.

Step your camera down to 800 x 600 or even 640 x 480 ...

that's right ... if your main need was b&a pictures for the web, then a 1.3 to 3 megapixel camera would have been perfect.

With a 5 megapixel camera, you can make photographic enlargements of 11x18 inches, though.
