Line paint problem

A few months ago, the wonderful state of WV decided to refresh the yellow lines on the road, without putting signs up to let people know it is WET. So needless to say I have yellow line paint caked on my truck, it looks like mud splatter, just yellow.

Anyone ever have this happen before or have any suggestions on what would take that crap off? Any input would be most helpful!

It could be a thermplastic paint.....Use 3M tar/adhesive remover....Or you can go with plain ol mineral spirits.....Then polish/wax when your done......You can also use a clay bar to assist...
 
If you use a piece of your clay bar ... many of the paints that are used on the highways have materials in them that are very abrasive. so what ever ends up in your clay might scratch your car later.

I meant break off a piece of your clay bar ... fingers awake ... brain not!
 
My in-laws had the same thing happen here in CA. What I used while the paint was still fairly fresh was laqueur thinner, then polished and finished up. Make sure that you do this at the wash stage so that you can wash off the residue.
If not then I used the 3M tar remover
 
I'm pretty sure that line paint is alcohol based...(quick drying)..you might want to try some alcohol first to see if it will soften...would be less harmfull than strong solvents.
 
my dad got some yellow paint on his truck, i just regular washed it and it didnt come off, i'm going to try to use mineral spirits, maybe WD-40, hopefully it will come off.
 
I get this at least once/week since my customers are often dealers.
Here are my steps from best to worst case:
1. First is a degreaser when I clean the wheels.
2. Then I use Target, which will have a similar reaction as WD-40.
3. I try clay and
4. buffing.
5. If nothing works, I use paint thinner on base/clear systems, and reducer on Urethane Enamel paints. I use it sparingly, and test in an unnoticable area.
