question about clay lube

I just finished the claying process. First time for me. I couldn't see much dirt come off but I did notice that the surface was slicker. I used Clay Magic and 4 star lube.

It's a 2004 red Mitsu Endeavor.

Quesiton: Do I need to wash the vehicle before applying AIO? I'm 4 hours into the process now 1 hour wash (I had to do some areas 2x) and 2 hours to clay. (I had a lunch break).

Need to know asap.

Thanks.

i dont usually although a lot of people do. Its just your preference really - its not neccessary. Yeah sicne your car is new, it probably doesnt have all that much road contaminents yet.

Hope that Helps!!:jump

LOL yeah. I never bother b/c it adds extra time that i feel is not needed. Have fun detailing!!! I wish i could but its soo dang cold!

Well the SG is on and is drying. I think I got it thin enough. I only have time for one coat this week. I was originally planning on 2 coats this week and then washing and applying P21S next weekend. But since I applied this coat so late in the day I think I'll live with the single coat then apply 2 coats next weekend. I have to drive the SUV on Monday morning. The P21s will have to wait for another week.

Later.

Detailing is exercise!

Hey people! I just discovered that detailing an SUV is worth 14 points on the Weightwatcher's system. Don't need no treadmill today! :)

Day one complete.

Wash (sides done 2x)
Clay
AIO
1 coat of SG

14 points, 700 calories, or 1 Big Mac....

No joke, my scale says I lost .8 lbs today. And I have one of those that doesn't lie (most of the time that's not a good thing!)

Next week plans:

Wash
SG on Saturday
SG on Sunday.

Good effort Tomp. You will be pleased with your efforts. With SG it seems that the gloss really shows the next day.
