What did you do detailing wise today?

<--- Stuart FL

That black Cadillac is in Jupiter which is about 20 min south of me. I think there`s a lot of room for high end detailers between Stuart and Miami. Sure there are a lot of regular detailers, but high end detailers are few and far between, especially for the amount of income per garage from here to Miami.

Good to know! I want to end up being the go to guy for higher end cars and I know that area is swarming with money. I also will be putting a team together for doing jets as well because that`s what I know best since I did that before the military. Big money in that field if any of y`all would be interested

How easy is the XPel headlight film to work with? And will it provide enough UV protection to stop freshly corrected headlights from clouding back over? Or is it better to add a coating first then apply the film?

Reason, I ask is a buddy wants to sand-off the cr@p job a previous owner did (2K Clear) and use XPel headlight film instead.

XPEL Headlight Film is super easy to work with. This is the 3rd car or truck I`ve installed them on so far and they`re great. I don`t think it provides much UV protection, it`s more for rocks and chip prevention. The owner told me other XLR owners are having trouble finding replacement headlights since they stopped producing them, so OEM headlights are going for over $1000. So he wants to protect them as much as he can. You can Opti-Lens, Xpel film, and opti-lens again for ultimate protection, but I wouldn`t use this to replace a coating. The kits are cheap too around $50.

Thanks, Vega! Very helpful info.

Might have found me a shop!!

So I went to check out my friends shop who does vinyl wraps and tint and clearbras and such with llumar products. He recently worked for a shop that detailed vehicles and did wraps and all that fun stuff that shut down. Anyway. Now he`s working on opening his own shop and I decided Id go by and check it out. It`s a pretty decent sized shop for a good price.either I`ll be renting out a space in his shop or renting out the shop next to him which is about as wide as a two car garage and about 6 car lengths long. Has a garage door on both ends and in the back the landlord plans on paving where there is grass now which will make for a good place to wash a car and then pull it straight into the shop. It`s off of a high traffic street which will be great for business.

I just finished some late night Gyeon Rim applications. These wheels were freshly powder coated and use to be a metallic silver, they are now a light metallic black. Fresh rubber too!

Washing does.

I finally had a water softener installed so looking forward to more suds and more efficient cleaning. I also ended up with a UV lamp to treat the water.

Meeting my mom in Fredericksburg today
Made her this kit for her navigator and their shared mustang 5.0 convertible

She has rheumatoid arthritis and still tries to clean the vehicles herself. Sadly i cant make it down there much (400+ miles 1way) but i think this stuff will help.

A softener helps with the suds but I`ve noticed water spots can sneak up on you a little more easily. Did something change with your well water to prompt the UV lamp?

I moved this summer and when they tested the well it had bacteria. After several tries at shocking the well it we could not get a clean report so decided to go with a UV to kill the bacteria. We just had it done again (test results not back) but since you should test everyone once in a way anyway decided to just play it safe for now. I learned it was common in the area (it was farm land area anyway). The water source is in granite (well cased/grouted down to granite) so it is not likely ground water readily leaking directly into well. Other than being a little hard (8 grains) and the bacteria, the water is good (clear, no smell, good taste, no iron, manganese, etc, reasonable total dissolved solids) and acceptable GPM.

There are a lot of wells with coliform and do not get sick from it but they no longer test for concentration (counting in petri dish) since the government has zero limit. Hey, we drank it for weeks before getting the report (county tests after a month or so of occupancy).

Gotcha. You may want to pick up a spare UV bulb since there is a good chance you have a solenoid value downstream that will automatically stop the flow of water if/when the bulb burns out. Having a spare on hand will help prevent extended "oh nuts - we have no water" moments. Just my $.02.

So my friend Bill (guy with blue 66 vette & red 15 vert) has turned into a "detail animal" looking for "more gloss".
He bought the Cosmic glass coat v2, then texted me "How do I do it?" :D

He`s watched the vids. I gave him a pc & pads (3") so he couldn`t get in trouble (which he was worried about).

He`s scared and having a BLAST !!

That it is I just have to get them into an organized storage instead of recycled PBMG boxes I can`t see through

Tomorrow I`ll probably be pulling out everything in my garage and reorganizing everything. Even when there`s only a few things out of place my OCD kicks in and I have a miniature freak out in my head. My towels are my main concern though. I`m thinking about getting a cabinet or giant Tupperware 3 drawer thing for just the towels. My wife hates that I`ll be outside for hours just messing with all of my detailing supplies trying to figure out where I want to put everything.
