Coatings vs. Standard LSP'S discussion

Reading back thru the different post it seems to me there is a clear divide between protection and looks.
If understand correctly some car owners with show cars are wanting the deep wax look.
While other mostly daily drivers are looking for protection.
This seems to be the great divide. Look vs. Protection. Both sides are deeply convinced in their choice. But seems we can not agreed on a product(s) that provide the best of both worlds.
I have worked with different coating seems we cannot have both has been my personal experience. i am like most on this forum continue to search new products for the answer.

To me the best of both worlds is Opti Coat Pro + You get both the look and durability. Although I haven't been disappointed in the regular Opti Coat Pro. Looks fantastic. Dr G always improves thing without announcements. :)

PS: I was talking to Dr G today and he mentioned that coatings are designed to protect first and foremost and the 'look" is 3rd down the line. That is according to him.

Good to hear as I am dropping off the first of three vehicles to get coated tonight

I am with you and in the case of KSG, the best choice is KAIO. Just like 3D polishes under their waxes - they are designed together. But if one mixes brands, one may get better result by cleaning the paint before the lsp

But the penultimate product part of many systems (the "pre-cleaner" or "Gloss Enhancing Paint Cleaner" is a long way from bare paint, especially the filler-rich ones. Most people never use KSG on bare paint, always putting it on top of KAIO.

BUT in all fairness, I'm certain you've used a *LOT* more LSPs than I have and I only know how my few behave. And I *am* a big fan of stripping the oils from certain polishes even if they've never copromised my LSP durability.

I know the naming game varies with who's playing, but I just knee-jerk about synthetic products being called "wax". My view is that wax comes from plants, not chemical labs in Germany..but FK wants to call it a "wax". Never thought of it as an oily product though, when I think "oily wax" I think of...oh I dunno...Souveran or M26 or maybe a Zymol Estate Glaze.

Yeah, that :D

Eh, I'm just advocating *not* doing stuff...any stuff...that doesn't need doing. Sometimes a vehicle needs decontaminated, or polished, or [whatever], sometimes it doesn't. Last time I reLSPed my wife's car I did some spot-claying to remove tar, and the clay didn't remove *any* other contamination from those areas; no need to clay the whole thing IMO.

That is weird. I wash and rinse my car with CR Spotless dual large system IF I wash in the sun. I use my compressor to blow out the cartages after the detail and I find I get more washes out of the media.

Never any spotting on OC 2.o, Gloss Coat, GTECH EXO v1, EXO v2, 22PLE or Polish Angel.

Is your spotting coming after a wash or after some time out in the real world driving?

I wash my car in the garage. The spotting appears after the first wash but doesn't get worse after a rain storm so it's difinitively from the washing. I'm convinced that it's the soap but I've tried Griot's, CarPro Reset and some off the shelf Megs Gold Class. I'm just going to have to wash one panel at a time and rinse with the sheeting method. Hopefully that works.

Whats that? I have recently diagnosed back issues... Neuro recommended a two level spinal fusion. I'm not exactly enthusiastic and trying to look for alternative options. Really don't want my stomach cut open and rods and screws in my back at 30. No car wreck or anything, and I'm 6'2 190. It's nuts to me that my back is that messed up.

Don't have spinal surgery. You will end up in the same condition within 5 years. Go to a corrective chiropractor. I had a numb right leg for 5 months and was all set up to have back surgery. Started going to a chiropractor and I had feeling in leg within 3 weeks. Spend the money on actually fixing your back instead of just fusing things that are in the wrong place together.

Another don't have spinal surgery without trying everything else first. IN 1997 I was scheduled to have my back operated on, have a herniated disk removed and have 2 fused.

I ended up reading a book by Dr John Sarno of NYU

My FIL was a Dr at NYU and suggested I see this guy. I called and he the good Dr told me he is booked for a few weeks but to read his book and if Im still in pain to keep the appointment. You know it really helped and I never saw the DR or had the surgery.

Not sure your condition so you should not listen to me on the internet, I'm just sharing my experience.

Well, my one and only coating was the DP PAINT COAT. I prepped with the DP PAINT COAT PREP. It looked and beaded really good. For about 2 months. :( I can get the look i am after with mammoth protection with PRIMA HYDRO MAX. Maintained with PRIMA HYDRO WAX AS YOU DRY. SIMPLE and fool proof. Have to say, i love the DP line. Have their wheel/glass coatings on. STELLAR PRODUCTS. Just that the DP PAINT COAT fell short in my eyes.

I had back issues for 14 years, when I had pain run down my right leg, I finally accepted I need something more than prednisone. The MRI showed I had a pinched nerve at L3, and my surgeon did a microdiscectomy. Oh yeah, while he was fixing L3, he discovered L4-5 had the same issue, and I had bone spurs and a cyst. He told my wife he had to take a little break and go back in. The operation took 2.75 hours instead of the 1.25 he thought it would take. But, 4 weeks later, I feel great and I start physical therapy today. The advice I have for anybody with back problems, get a doctor with experience, one that thinks laser surgery on your back is wrong, and one that wants to fix once with no need for surgery down the road.
I always heard that most of the time back surgery is rarely a 1 time thing. I guess my doctor heard that too, cause yesterday he said a couple times, " we want you to heal, get therapy and change your lifestyle so you don't have back problems again"
I look forward to getting in shape and being able to put this behind me. Oh, I also started a diet, nothing fad, just cut back on food, and I figure losing that middle-aged spread would help too.
Good luck guys!

Just in case anyone needs a band aid for their burn

Insult deleted and user warned. Remember guys this thread already has a figurative "yellow card".

I think this gif perfectly sums up this thread.

We can all have our opinions...no need to hate. A coating is a MUST for me on a daily driver. If someone wants to wax/seal every couple months...so be it. Their time. To the haters who can't respect others opinion...
