My neighbor took Meguiar's Bug & Tar Wipes to the body armor on his Z71 to remove some tar spots. 3 weeks later, couple of washings, armorall & some other stuff (can't recall what else, run of the mill stuff) these white spots won't go away.
Before I go trying anything on it, figured I'd run it by you all since I really don't have a clue as to what to use on it.

They almost look like scuff marks, and they are tough, if not impossible, to completely remove from plastic trim. (I really hate all the plastic they put on vehicles these days :mad )

I doubt the wipes could have done that damage on their own............. but who knows. His application process may have been incorrect, and he may have been a little too aggressive. Anyhow, I use a product call Black Jack Black Again to remove stubborn wax residue, and to hide scuffs on trim. However, I doubt that it's a permanent solution, but it might be worth a try.

You may want to try Poorboy's Trim Restorer. It does a good job of removing white residue from textured plastic. It's also durable enough to keep looking good through multiple washings.
 
Maybe Meguiars #39 would get it off it said it can get stains off plastic parts like that if that fails Poorboys Trim Restrorer.
 
I'll go on record to say that PB trimrestorer is a great product for those plastic panels. I have done alot of Jeeps and used it and it lasts quite a while. :google
 
He says he rubbed back and forth until the tar was gone. Took awhile and he used alot of pressure to get it to come off. As to what he 'really' did, I can't be sure.

I've read alot of good things about Poorboys here. Going to have to get ahold of some of those products. Meguiars #39 I'm guessing he can get local. I'll tell him to try that first while I see about getting the PB in.

Once we try this out, I'll let you all know the results.

You can find #39 locally at body shop supply stores they sell alot of the Meg's Mirror Glaze and other BSP line. Maybe when he was rubbing the abrasives from the tar took off the top layer of the plastic dye and it turned white.
