Pro Polish Question

I tried pro polish for the first time today and what a bitch to remove and it left the suface with a nice streak, I had to use AIO to clean it up. The only thing that I could think of is that the pad should be damp, but the directions don't mention that.

Any ideas???
 
Most likely you didn't work the product long enough and also possibly used too much. Pro Polish will buff off extremely easy if you work it through properly. Like most polishes, try buffing it off when still wet and you'll get streaks and it'll take a lot longer to remove.

On the pads, I've used it both with dry and dampened foam pads with PC D.A, rotary and by hand. I found no real difference but I do prefer to dampen applicators as a general rule (until the pad becomes primed with product).

If using a machine, apply a thin bead all the way around the pad about an inch from the edge. With the machine off smear it over the finish before starting the machine to eliminate any sling. Work the product until it begins to dry or dust. Wait another minute then you'll be able to buff it off with an easy swipe of a terry or mf towel.

You should work the product fully till almost dry or the first signs of dusting or until it starts to simply disappear. You'll know when you've reached any of the above points. If you stop working the product prematurely then you would wait until it is dry to touch and you can remove it just be running your finger through it.

That is why I said after you've worked it fully, wait another minute then buff off. THis way just in case it is still in the workable stage it'll have a minute to dry more before you attempt to buff it off.

Pro Polish is super spiffidy neato! I love that stuff, does a great job of minor swirl removing.

I agree with Natty here, let it set for about a minute, and your good to go.
 
That's the wierd thing I only did a section at a time, rubbed on, tried to wipe off, but it streaked. I tried to use it like I use AIO.

I guess pro polish isn't for me, anybody want to trade for VM Glaze.
 
You didnt wait long enough. Just go back to a panel and make sure to give it some time to set, its a good product.

Well you've just uncovered your own problem.... Pro Polish is NOT Klasse AIO. :rolleyes:

Give it a try the way I described. I'm sure your experience will be very different.

In deed. It isn't an AIO product. It's a polish. If you ask me it's more of a cleaner but let's not get picky. A polish needs to worked into the paint to do anything. It's like smearing compound on your car with a towel and then just whiping it off. Please for your own sake give it a try.
 
One thing i've found about all of PB's products is that they are extremely easy to remove and they are very non-critical of humidity and such. You do have to work the Pro Polish in, but not overly so. Are you using microfiber? I get major streaking with many products if I don't use MF towels. Also, you have to apply it thin, as you do with any product. Try another application if you dare - maybe you just had some products on the finish that reacted with the PP. A second application will leave the surface totally clean.
 
Sorry I didn't get back to you Natty- I was thinking polish w/carnuba too. Sorry about the confusion. He really needs to give one of them a new name!!!!

I am by no means a pro detailer or anything and probably dont belong in this thread but I am very inexperianced and PoorBoy talked me into trying his stuff and I gave it a try and I had absolutly no toruble like your having and I did what Natty has suggested here and I couldnt be more pleased with the results.
