95' Jeep w/EX

I did my dad's 95' Grand Cherokee the other day. For paint this old it is in pretty decent shape. This was my first have at it with EX. My dad is not as critical as I when it comes to paint. So that and the combo of it being in good condition I could get away with two steps. They were:

1. Wash & Clay
2. #9 w/foam polishing pad on PC
3. EX by hand w/foam pad

The one thing I dread about doing this vehicle is the endless amounts of trim on those older Jeeps. Thick trim around the doors, handles, and vinyl bottom... never ending. It wasn't in horribly bad shape, but to get it the way I wanted it I scrubbed w/APC while washing. Then when dry I did two coats of #40 dressing, buffing in between to keep the shine down. Looked good when done.

I was tempted to do a coat of #26 or P21S after the EX and another polishing step between #9 and EX, but it wasn't worth the time. I chose EX over a carnuba becuase this vehicle needs the protection of a sealant where it goes. For someone who is finatical about paint though, I find that a carnuba on top of a nice sealant like EX is a great combo.

I was also very impressed with the EX, being my first time using it. I have never gotten this kind of shine with just two steps, especially with the topper being a sealant. (Although I have no experience w/ UPP). Bottom line... EX in my opinion is just another great product from Poorboy.

Great..Trim is a pain...so is Glass....equal pains...
I think EX has a wax in it....could use a picture..??

I've done many older Jeeps and I tape off the trim and handles makes the job easier. I alos have found that the trim restorer is the best product that I have seen on the market for those types of cars.

I used the blue painters tape to mask off any of the trim before I buffed. It is not that there was wax on it, because I'm the only one that touches this paint, it is just that it was starting to get faded. I think the next time around it will be due for some black dye.
