Jaguar challenge ...

Hey gang,

Great info from 2hot re: diminishing returns and drawing the line on how much paint to remove when chasing those few remaining swirls or imperfections. I couldn't agree more!

Koop.....also great info regarding different panels/areas of vehicles not getting as much paint as others. Definetely useful info and something we all NEED to be aware of.

Kudos gang for sharing some great, useful info!

Well said ! I couldn't agree with you more. 2hotford and koop's input comes from years of experience and is worth its weight in gold. Somethings information like this is better communicated through the actual words of professionals and not read about in a bland textbook.
 
Yes I to would like to know how the Jag came out afterwards. And could you give a little explaination of the steps and products you used.
 
Finally

The owner of that Jag had some personal obligations that needed to be taken care of... I will finally be able to go to battle with that finish on Sunday. Pics and documantary of method will be up no later than Monday.
 
Whoa whoa whoa. Wait a minute. You did THAT much of an improvement with nothing more than Speed Glaze, what gives?
 
Lighting...

I would like to get this car under some better lighting to make a better evaluation of the finish... Amazingly this metalic ruby red paint was a single stage paint and my green edge pad was blood red upon completion. I may finish off with No. 9 tomorrow depending on how she looks in direct sunlight. I will post some pics in direct sunlight (hopefully tomorrow), which will give a better example of how the paint improved...
 
Single stage is soooooo diffrent from clear. It's sooo easy to get a great finnish out of, but at the same time so hard. You have to work with it for a while to really understand all it's quirks. It's just soooo diffrent.
 
Woah thats amazing you use speed glaze and thats all. How much more Abrasive or less abrasive is it then DACP. Incredible Job man that paint looks awsome, Do you have pics of the Interior. ?
 
Another Jaguar teaser...

I finished this morning and I must say ... WOW I LOVE THIS CAR !!! It is a 1986 XJS V12 !!!

I used Meguiars Speed Glaze with an Edge Light Green cutting pad then...
I used Meguairs No. 9 Swirl Remover with an Edge White final polishing pad and topped with S100.

Here is the final teaser... I post a few pics tonight...
 
Engine Bay...

Good old Simple Green... A little brush work (agitate) ... Pressure wash... Auto Magic water based dressing !!! ...

What an engine V12 !!! Tassadar ...Thanks for noticing !!!
