No Rinse Wash is no joke

I have used ONR twice now.

The wash mitt picks up dirt great but it will not rinse clean even a rinse bucket. Is this normal? The only way I can clean them is with Dawn.

Same thing happens to me with the GS. I believe I read in another thread that this is common and it is because ONR does not do a good job on releasing dirt.

What kind of mitt? My sheepskin mitts rinse out pretty well.

Your mitt not releasing dirt is natural when using ONR. Just wash it out with with soap after you're done.

ricka - I have both ONR and 4-1. I like ONR better because it requires only 1oz. to 2 gallons. 4-1 requires 1oz. to 1 gallon. Might not seem like a big deal, but it's 50% less with ONR. ONR is also eco-friendly (the chemicals of ONR). Not sure if 4-1 is. I really believe in Optimum as a whole so I trust their products more than others. I personally like the smell of ONR better.

My bottle of ONR arrived today. If it ever stops raining here I'm going to go get two buckets and some MF towels and clean my car.

I just ordered the big bottle of ONR since I'm OCD about my car and I live in apts. but what is the proper method of using this. I was planning on the 2 bucket method, but you don't have to do any pre-rinse do you? You just put the soap in one bucket, clean water in another and dry a panel at a time right?

U do not have to pre rinse i use a 2 bucket system and 2 diff mitts one for the top half of the car and one for the bottom half. I also spray down the car with a garden sprayer just to make sure but u dont HAVE to do that.

I've stopped using the 2-bucket method. I just use one bucket with no grit guard. I've not had any problems with marring the paint or scratching. The dirt settles to the bottom and I use enough water that I'm not even close to putting my wash mitt on the bottom of the bucket.

I believe Scottwax's comment on using ONR was something like, "Don't make it complicated." So after trying a bucket with grit guard and pre-spraying with a garden sprayer, I've gone back to one bucket, two MF's. Seemed to me that the sheepskin mitt (which I love with regular wash) left some fine scratching, and the grit guard in a 5 gal. bucket forced use of a lot more water (and we're in a severe drought here). I couldn't tell any difference with a pre-spray, but it SEEMS like a good idea, so I may go back to it.

The most important thing that seems to help me get good results is getting the wash MF really saturated, folding in quarters, and using a swiping movement with a bit of a rolling motion so that only clean MF comes in contact with paint. After each swipe, I move to a different side of the folded towel. This gives 8 swipes before the towel goes back in the ONR and gets agitated really well (avoiding putting it on the bottom of the bucket).

There was a string about a year ago that described the wet towel technique with this swiping motion. I also forgot to say that after the 8 swipes, I dry that section with the second MF. I've never noticed any streaking, and I can do all the paint on my Civic (yeah, small car) in 20 minutes. Another 10 for wheels, then wheel wells and tires, and I'm done.

Seemed to me that QEW felt slicker and like it would encapsulate dirt better when I was using it, but in fact, ONR leaves the car a bit glossier (or so it seems to me). I guess the proof that the ONR is doing its job is that the car comes out great.

i onr washed my car yesterday- i had to work fast though b/c the side of the car facing the garage door was icing over really fast:doh

Okay,

Here is how I wash my car with Magic Spray and Wipe:

one bucket of clean water

one good qualiry chamois

Spray the magic wash and wipe with the well wrung chamois, turn over and rinse in the bucket.

I do always the roof, then the windows, hood, upper doors, and at the end the bottom part.

Alway rinse the chamois in the bucket.

The chamois does not trap the dirt

15 - 20 minutes for the complete car

5 mitutes for the rims

I just spray very little on the rims and wipe them of with a terry cloth, done.

:spot

Cheers

Did anyone has tried Magic Spray and wipe? I use the stuff now over a year. It's from Australia, no chemicals, all natural. The website is carmagic.com.au

I use it with 1 bucket of water, a chamois, and a terry cloth. Works also great on the wheels to remove the break dust, and the interior.

Ohmigosh.. more Nature's Way spam? whodathunkit?:beware
