Whats the best sized backing plate for a PC. Im using LC 6.5" pads.

Currently i have a 6" packing plate, but was thinking of switching to a 5" because i heard that if you use the smaller backing plate it doesnt lose as much power compared to using a 6" because its lighter.

I use a 5 inch backing plate, with a 5 inch counter weight with the 5.25" LC CCS pads. Works nicely, very tough to bog down the pc!

I use a 5" plate only because it gives me the option of going down to 5.25" pads without having to change out the plate first.

Theoretically moving lighter plate will make more power transferred but keep in mind smaller plate means less pressure transferred on the edge of the pads, so you gain some and then you lose some. I wouldn't go less than 6" BP for 6.5" pads. If you want smaller BP get smaller pads. 4.75" to 5" BP for 5.25" to 5.5" pads. That will result in what you want, but not just because of BP becoming smaller, size of a pad plays a role too.
