I don't mean for typing on your computer..LOL

Since we use a lot of chemicals do yoiu guys use gloves? I do for the wash but not much after that . I wonder what the long trem effects could be on your hands?
You know damage to you liver of course the amount of drinking that I do should beat any chemicals soaked into my skin by years.

Your thoughts would be good to hear.

Oh and yesterdays car I got this one back and he booked his wifes car on the spot

I'm not using gloves on any detailing. Only time i use gloves is when using chemical stripper. Or on a rare occasion I'll pick them up if i'm dealing with laquer thinner for a long time. The worst that detailing chemicals will give you is dry hands or possibly an alergic reaction if you alergic to the chemical.

Never used gloves but I did pick up some eye protection. Ever had the wind blow wheel acid in your face/eyes? I've also inhaled some pretty strong chemicals but never thought about gloves.

No gloves

Have not used gloves, but like yourself have thought about using them on many occassions. Eye protection yes. With regards to gloves, when washing I was always afraid it would dull my sense on the car and not feel if something is catching and scratching.

I use gloves for certain cleaning jobs, such as engines and some interiors. I too wear eye protection. You just never know.

I was thinking about having some gloves made out of microfiber towels. That would be useful when working on the final touch up on the car and avoiding getting fingerprints all over the place.

Ewwww! I don't want them made out of crappy Viper towels! I want high quality towels like my forrest green ones. There is a difference between having gloves made from microfiber and having gloves made out of microfiber towels. I like having things custom made for me. I need to find a woman who can sew.... Time to go brush the mullet again.

I always use gloves when cleaning tires. I make my own tire scrubbers out of floor buffing discs the white work the best for me not to harsh yet have enough scrubb to get the tire clean. Find a custodian and see if he has some used ones. They have plenty of life left for tires

Hell, I wear a full radiation suit!

JK, no gloves, ne eye protection, no ear protection... I'm open to attack. But it's true, if I get wheel cleaner in my eyes again, I'm gonna be pissed.

Uses for gloves:

definitely when doing nasty interior....like cousin Jose

defintely for scrubbing wheels and tires

definitely for cleaning engine compartments

definitely for changing my oil

never when doing paint work

I use Nitrile gloves for everything. I jsut like my results better with them than without them. It does take some getting used to though.

The best answer to your question Beemerboy is to check the MSDS on your products. Also, if the product were toxic and readily absorbed through the skin, you will see a huge warning on the package telling you so. However, many products can irritate your skin.
As for your liver... well cheers!

I only use gloves for realy nasty interiors and trunks... I'm more worried about bio hazards than the chemicals... lol heres a trick though for your hands.. wash your hands with a good hand soap but don't rinse just wipe it off.. it seals your poures and makes cleaning your hands easier after your done.. a tip one of my mechanic buddies told me...

Gloves

Only when handling stronger chemicals... mostly wheel cleaners.

However, I am looking to find some gloves to protect my hands while working under seats !!!! There are some sharp seat rails out there !!!!!!!

Thanks for the feed back. I use gloves when working on the wheels if I'm using a acid based cleaner.

Other wize I find that the gloves make my hands sweat like crazy.
